MEET CHEF LEE CHRISTENSON

When Heaven City owner, Julie Beronja, decided it was time to look for a new Chef she aimed to look for someone who was familiar with Heaven City Restaurant; its ambience, customer service and outstanding quality. She found it in Lee Christenson.

Lee was born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin and has been in the restaurant business since he was 16 years old. Where did he begin? Heaven City Restaurant and trained by none other than Scott McGlinchey, Executive Chef and owner at that time.

Lee's first job as day Sous Chef provided him the opportunity to develop his skills as a Saucee and expand on his love of using fresh and local ingredients. After seven years, Lee left Wisconsin and moved west to explore his love of eclectic Southwest cooking; first at the Armadillo Grill, and then onto unique Alice Cooper's Cooperstown, featuring some of the best barbecue specialties in Phoenix. Lee's other experiences include working in the Milwaukee area with Al Jolly of Jolly's restaurant in Wauwatosa, John Klug at Crawdaddy's restaurant in West Allis, and Eric Peterson, owner of BJ Wentker's fine dining restaurant in Burlington, Wisconsin, not far from Milwaukee. The common link is all of Lee's Wisconsin culinary colleagues have had some association with Heaven City. How ghostly is that?! From seafood driven Cajun fusion specialties to Southern barbecue classics such as slow-smoked ribs and pig roasts, Lee has had the privilege of working alongside some of the best chefs in some of the top kitchens throughout Wisconsin while developing his own signature style.
