| MEET JIMMY WADE, owner of Heaven City
Restaurant
Jimmy Wade (Jimmy as he is known to everyone) was born and raised on the
Chesapeake Bay in Hampton, Virginia where as a boy he played on
the piers and helped the fishermen dock and unload the fresh catch
of the day.
Joining the local fire department at the young age of 16, Jimmy
got his first "taste" of cooking by creating dishes for
the other fire fighters, often receiving ribbing from the guys saying
that he missed his calling. As years past, Jimmy continued to refine
his craft by taking up part-time cooking jobs at a variety of establishments.
A career-ending injury during a fire call prompted Jimmy to take
a leap and open his own restaurant called Smokin' Jim's Firehouse
Grill in Lexington, Virginia, where he was
well known both for his exquisite cooking and his creative catering.
While filming the movie "War of the
Worlds" Steven Spielberg's and Tom Cruise's crew reserved Jimmy's
quaint restaurant and enjoyed some of his comfort fusion cooking.
Jimmy also forged a unique relationship with both the Virginia Military
Institute (VMI) and Washington and Lee University, where he catered
all special events, from tailgate parties to large graduation parties
including a Law School graduation dinner for over 1000 guests.
Distinctive among old-style
restaurants, Heaven City has a flair of southern hospitality
In 2005, Jimmy found his way to Wisconsin, and his new passion
- the historic Heaven City Restaurant, known to provide an unforgettable
Milwaukee fine dining experience. Jimmy has brought many of his
special touches to the restaurant and because of his extensive culinary
background, you can be sure every dish that leaves the kitchen has
been carefully screened by Jimmy himself. He can also be seen nightly
greeting tables and making sure guests are receiving impeccable
attention from his staff.
Jimmy has expanded the comfort of Heaven City style service through
catering and an extensive patio atmosphere with entertainment every
summer. Through his efforts, Heaven City Restaurant is gaining a
reputation among brides as the perfect place to hold your wedding
rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and gift opening - the only
thing Jimmy can't offer is to marry the couple himself. Whether
it's a business party or private event catering, a casual barbeque
or black tie event catering, Heaven City's banquet and catering
services for parties and other special events offer a dining experience
that is sure to tease and delight many palates.
Cook with class - Heaven City's creative interactive
fine dining school
Most recently, Jimmy was invited to be an Advisory Committee Member
for the Waukesha Area technical College (WCTC) Culinary Program,
the expertise he brings with him is building a successful restaurant
in the North, an area of the country that was unfamiliar to him.
In the spring of 2007 Jimmy can be found at the WCTC college campus,
where he will be a guest speaker for a mini lecture series in a
class titled Developing a Kitchen Team.
